Biography
I was born in the Midwest, grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and at one point moved so far west that I actually found myself living in the Far East, which sounds more confusing than it actually is. While there, I started a blog, Me and Chairman Mao, about what it was like to live there. I did this not only because my friends and family wanted me to, but also because I figured that since everyone else had a blog, I might as well get one, too.
After a while, however, I noticed something funny: while very few of my (alleged) friends or family were reading my blog, a lot of other people were. Or, if not actually reading it, they were at least finding it while searching for other China-related things (some combination of the words Beijing, Sex, and Massage seeming to be the most popular), which I figure is pretty much the same thing: reading a blog, looking for cheap Chinese hookers, tomato, tomatoe, whatever. Either way, the important thing -- note that when I say "important thing" I mean "what matters to me," which is less selfish than it sounds -- is that I was writing, and people were reading.
Eventually, I started getting emails from people saying that my blog was so funny -- I believe the word "hilarious" was used on more than one occasion -- I should write a book about it. (Can you see where this is going? And if you can't, who is reading this to you?) So one thing led to another, yada yada yada, and I now find myself with a collection of stories about the weird, wild, and wacky things that happened to me while living in Beijing. Someday, this collection of stories might be a proper book, available in stores and all that -- and if any of you reading this would like to make it a proper book, I am more than willing to sell out, so no worries -- but for now, they'll pretty much only be available right here on this website. I hope you get at least a few laughs out of them.
And please, feel free to laugh at me, if not with me -- I don't mind.
